Application forms are increasingly becoming more detailed, assessment centres more challenging and interviews more searching, particularly where these processes are based on evidence of competence. Employees seeking to develop themselves either through lateral development or promotion are spending significant amounts of time and energy preparing and participating in these processes, many resulting in an unsuccessful outcome.
